  Truly a Miracle

Hi, I am one of the many November IVFers. I was very lucky to become pregnant, as I have serious health problems, Hepatitis C. I was told that the only way I could become pg was through IVF. It took 3 years to get enough money for it, when they did the routine blood work they said, do you know you have Hepatitis C? I knew this, and was also very scared that if I did get pg, that the baby might get it too. They said the chances of the baby getting it would be very slim, and as of now the baby that I'm carrying does not have Hepatitis C. It's when they do the delivery that they have to be careful. I went through 10 years of infertility, 3 tubal pregnancies, one that almost killed me. That's when I got Hepatitis C. I went to hospital with a tubal pregnancy, and 10 hours after the surgery I was bleeding from the incision. They were sewing me up and the blood was just pouring out. I was bleeding internally. I had an IV in my neck, a blood transfusion, and the whole bit. They ended up taking that tube out, and the other one too. Well one in a million it happened to me: I had a pregnancy in the tube and in the uterus. When they did the surgery they did not do an ultrasound and sent me home 3 days later. I still felt pg. The doctor told me it was all in my head, that was, until I started I started bleeding. They did an ultrasound and sure enough 3 sacs were found with no heartbeats. The surgery I had 3 days earlier had probably killed them. So two years later I tried IVF, and I did not think I had a chance in the world after all those freak accidents. If it was not for Brenda, I do not know what I would have done (answering all of my questions, etc). I was not responding well on the meds and I was also on them for 16 days, when all the other ladies were on their way. Yes, I was on Lupron and Fertinorm. On day 8 of taking stims, I only had 3 follicles that you barely could see. I also had hyperstimulation. Our clinic is behind the times. They only do day 2 transfers, but the first day the little ones rest for 24 hours so really it's only 24 hours. In the end I had 15 eggs, 10 fertilized, one 6-cell and the rest 4-cell. I put back 4 which they rated at 2.5 and isn't considered great (the rating scale is 1-4 with 4 being the best). I didn't think I had a chance, so I didn't get my hopes up. But a miracle happened and I did get pregnant. I go in for a fetal assessment soon and after that I can relax, I guess. I will be pg 12 weeks on Valentine's Day.
