After 11 years of marriage our miracle baby, Jacob Anthony, was born. Now he has just turned one year old.

I knew a long time ago that I would have problems getting pregnant because my periods were very irregular. I wouldn't have periods for 3 to 6 months at a time. I was also diagnosed with hyperthyroidism that resulted in most of my thyroid being removed, thereby making me hypothyroid for life. We had undergone several IUIs and one failed IVF. The IVF devastated my husband and I. We almost did not make it through the emotional turmoil. I could not even mention trying again until over a year later.

We finally decided to try again. This time I responded well to the medications but on the last visit before the retrieval my follicles were not growing as had been expected. My retrieval was scheduled on a Saturday. On Thursday my RE called and said that he was thinking of canceling the cycle. I felt devastated again. A few hours later my RE called back and said that we would go ahead with the IVF cycle because my blood levels seemed okay. 12 eggs were retrieved, 8 were mature, but only 2 fertilized. One of those two embryos is now my son.

I will be doing my 3rd IVF in a couple of months to give my son a brother or sister. So please send some ++++ vibes my way.
